Lancashire has always been one of my favourite UK counties in the north-west. I was born in Ormskirk then lived in Burscough for a short period until moving to Southport, where I have lived most of my life. When I moved to Blackpool to study for my photography degree, I released my love for Lancashire’s culture and countryside. I’ve always been a rural kind of guy, the type of people you meet up north are just good people from my experience, and the closer I can get to yorkshire tea the better!

Random facts about Lancashire

Lancashire was established in 1183, it has a population of 1.4 million and the county covers over 3000 sq km – making it one of the largest shire counties in the UK.

J R R Tolkien was inspired by Lancashire whilst writing Lord of the Rings, which he wrote during his stay at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley in the 1940’s.

Reasons to get married in Lancashire

There are plenty of options when it comes to finding a wedding venue out in the country, as over 3/4 of Lancashire is classed as rural. Lancashire is the perfect location to tie the knot if you love the outdoors. You can enjoy fantastic views of rolling countryside and breath in the fresh air.

If you are lucky enough to live in West Lancashire, you have the choice of wedding venues both in-land or by the coast. Your wedding guests will have an easy time getting to your venue in most cases with major airports from Manchester and Liverpool not far away.
